Baby Blankets
Find the Perfect Type Blankets
Baby blanket is an essential part of the nursery, but selecting the right one involves understanding safety guidelines, material choices, and appropriate usage. SwaddleAn offers a range of baby blankets designed with safety and comfort in mind, making them ideal choices for parents conscious of infant safety standards.
WARNING: ABSOLUTE SAFETY STANDARDS
SwaddleAn puts safety first. Following the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), NEVER place any loose bedding (including swaddles, multipurpose blankets, or quilts) in the sleep area of an infant under 12 months old due to the elevated risk of suffocation and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
We also strictly PROHIBIT the use of weighted products (blankets, swaddles, or sleep sacks) for infants because of potential medical risks, including reduced oxygen saturation and impaired arousal reflex. SwaddleAn does not manufacture any weighted sleep products.
Quick Summary
-
Core Safety Rule: Infants should be placed on their back (supine) on a firm, flat surface, with NO loose blankets, pillows, or toys in the sleep area.
-
When is it Safe? Infants should only begin sleeping with loose blankets after they turn 12 months old, when they've developed the consistent ability to move a blanket away from their face.
-
Safe Warming Solution: The safest way to keep a baby warm is by using Wearable Blankets/Sleep Sacks, as they cannot cover the baby's face and are AAP-approved.
-
Temperature Management: Use the TOG (Thermal Overall Grade) rating system to ensure your baby doesn't overheat, which is a significant SIDS risk factor.
