Why is swaddling no longer recommended?

Why do the NHS (UK) not recommend swaddling?

This is a key difference in international guidance. The UK's NHS (National Health Service) takes a more cautious stance than the US's AAP. They do not actively recommend swaddling because of the high risks of overheating (a SIDS factor) and hip dysplasia if it's not done perfectly. They don't "ban" it, but they emphasize other safe sleep methods first.
